Summary:
Streamlined coupon redemption and improved mobile engagement with a redesigned user flow and generative barcode system for in-store retail POS.
The Problem:
The original platform suffered from outdated UI, poor mobile usability, poor implementation of print out functionality in the print css, and manual barcode generation that slowed down redemption and caused employee and customer service issues. Confusing coupon workflows that touched too many departments and went through too many hands resulted in mistakes and errors in redemption at the POS. In addition, there was no automated scheduling of coupon releases or, even more importantly, their sunset dates which inevitably caused conflict at the POS in store.
My Role:
UX/UI redesign, workflow analysis and optimization, mobile-first design strategy, creation of an automated generative barcode solution.
The Solution and Impact:
1. Redesigned the coupon browsing and redemption flow to prioritize speed and simplicity on all devices.
2. Replaced manual coupon processing with a dynamic generative barcode system, significantly reducing user friction and backend workload.
3. Simplified implementation, automated sunsetting of outdated coupons, resulted in reduced customer service contacts and complaints in store from employees.
